2025 Local Conservation Scholarship Winners

2025 Scholarship Winner: Samantha Brookman

Hello! My name is Samantha Brookman. I am currently studying Environmental Science at the University of Central Arkansas. I was born in Colorado, but I moved to Arkansas when I was in the fifth grade with my family. Termed “The Natural State”, it was only fitting I discovered my passion for nature while living here. I am especially interested in herpetology, also known as the study of reptiles and amphibians, and I am hopeful that I can work to conserve these underappreciated creatures one day! After finishing my undergraduate degree, I intend on attending graduate school to get my master’s degree before beginning a career focused on field work and research that aids in conservation efforts! I believe that environmental degradation and pollution are one of the biggest challenges we are facing right now, and despite my professional goals, I plan on staying involved in local organizations that advocate for environmental conservation and protection.

I was ecstatic when I learned I was the chosen recipient for this scholarship! This money helps me to continue my education within the field of environmental science so that I can work to preserve natural habitats and wildlife. I am grateful for this opportunity, as not only does this aid my future, but I also got to share my passion for conservation with others and discuss what I believe are some of the most pressing issues regarding environmental protection today. I’d like to thank the Northern Virginia Criminal Defense Group for selecting me for this scholarship and I will continue to spread awareness regarding conservation and sustainable living!
