Karin Riley Porter

Karin Riley Porter believes that effective, aggressive representation for those accused of crimes is a crucial part of the justice system. Barred in the Commonwealth of Virginia for both state and federal matters, Ms. Porter has been named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Association and has been named a Super Lawyer by Thomas Reuters. She is also AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and is a member of the Nation College for DUI Defense.

Ms. Porter spent nine years as a prosecutor in Virginia before joining Price Benowitz LLP, where she learned just how much of a difference a qualified criminal defense lawyer makes in the outcome of a case. Karin has unique knowledge about law enforcement investigative techniques and the trial strategies used by the prosecution. This distinctive knowledge allows her to build a defense strategy that is not only plausible, but highly persuasive. 

Education and Philosophy

Ms. Porter attended Penn State University, and then graduated from the George Mason University School of Law with honors. Immediately after graduation, Karin clerked for a Fairfax County Circuit Court judge. 

A tenacious attorney, Ms. Porter is ready to fight for her clients, and can handle all matters of criminal defense on both the misdemeanor and felony level. “I am a firm believer in the American criminal justice system,” Karin stated. “Throughout my career, I’ve realized that, for the system to work fairly, those accused of crimes must be represented by skilled and effective legal counsel— I know that I can provide that service to the public.”
